iPhone Paper Clip Stand

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Or get a www.gogostand.com that fits in your wallet. I created the GoGoStand since we needed a more portable solution. Keep reading for the paper clip template… Get the template at my website (in PDF) www.deanying.com So I was wanting to watch Napoleon Dynamite. But I didn’t have a way to prop up my iPhone. I went online to look for instructions on creating any kind of make-shift stand but all I came up with was some triangle thing made out of a dollar bill and also a retail item called the Bat Rest. The Bat Rest is a great idea… but I wanted something NOW. Anyway, long story short, after a couple of failures, I came up with this shape. FAQs: Will it scratch my phone? No it won’t scratch your iphone if you do it right. Check out the video responses to see the stand done with the plastic-coated paper clips. Also notice how the ends of the paper clip are bent outwards so when you rest the phone on the stand properly, those tips don’t even touch your phone.

Green Careers: Recycling (clip)

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

The recycling industry is still in its infancy but is growing fast with everything we buy, consume, and then throw away. This program introduces job opportunities in recycling including a profile of an electronics recycling start-up and a San Francisco municipal program to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel fuel. Job opportunities in recycling include collection, transportation, receiving and sorting, disassembly, handling hazardous materials, scheduling, operations, and plant management. Recycling provides opportunities for young people to start with a temporary or part-time job, then move up to supervisory and management responsibilities. The biggest challenge in recycling is developing innovative and environmentally sensitive solutions for recycling a wider array of materials. The government is a large factor in the growth of this industry, and often pays private companies to recycle. But for anyone who is entrepreneurial and can figure out a new way to reuse what other people discard, recycling can offer a very worthwhile and profitable career. 22 minutes, color. direct link to purchase the DVD: www.phoenixlearninggroup.com Jobs profiled in this program include: E-Waste Entrepreneur, Plant Manager, Biofuel Coordinator, Truck Driver.
