I tried these. Laggy as hell, and wiped out my neighbour’s radio. I went back to wifi. If I needed a wired connection, I’d just buy an rj45 cable (which these things use anyway) directly into the other computer. This is an ill-conceived and unpopular technology, sorry.

When streaming wireless you will noticed frame delays and audio time lags. wireless can stream maximum or 42mbps on a direct line of site or around 34mbps. Even with pre-n technology HD is not wise. For any media stream you need a wired solution.

If your planning on streaming video (HD) or standard I would recommend using PowerLine HomePlug to setup a simple network via your homes mains electricity. I’ve got a similar setup, Storage server in the study with DMA1000 in my living room. Works a treat.

Using HomePlug to stream means the movie or music you watch or listen to will not suffer any pausing (lagg) or stopages (buffering delays) caused by poor streaming, normally associated with wireless.

    This DMA1000 is silent.
