Killer Steve what would you know, I know Ken and he doesn’t lie he has no need to and no one to impress, You don’t even know the full story of the image he took as he doesn’t tell the full story in the video, so in short you should know better than to talk shite about somone you have not even met!

He didn’t know what he was saying when he said Mick Rock copied off of him. The truth of the matter, as LaciousC stated, is that Rock and Mercury were overcome by Marlene Dietrich. So, they invented a look that was completely original and their own. Yes, this guys photo is similar to it, but Rock and Queen were unaware of his. He made a false allegation, and he should know better than to do so. After all, he admitted he didn’t have evidence to support his argument.

Nice job! Watch the whole series. Simple and informative with a few good stories thrown in. I’ve been in photography for many years but NOT doing portraits. This was a good refresher for me.

Watch all 8 parts to get the most from this tutorial. Some of the best advice is contained in the later sections.

  17. countdevio says:

Not bad .. a little dry .. but the duration of the video … his explanation .. is something a new photographer should grasp.

  18. brittatonic says:

    bald as a coot…..hahahaha

  19. patchbobbins says:

As soon as that picture appeared, I instantly thought, “Queen 2, 1974″. Didn’t think Mick Rock would actually steal someone’s idea like that though :S

This guy deserves a monument from the photo community. It is a person who really knows what he is talking about. I guess all the photoshop user don’t care a crab what he talks about; they will fix every shot in the computer later.

  26. Lloyd Barnes says:

Looking forward to the rest of the series!
