I have many books on SQL BI (back to read about SQL Server 2000 OLAP). This is by far the best book, not only on SQL OLAP and BI, but also on data mining and analysis and storage of data that I have ever read. This book will provide to all intermediaries in early 2008, SQL Server BI directors, developers and managers of one of the best explanations for the 2008 edition of the SQL BI capabilities, best practices and processes of implementation. Even if you are an experienced expert is in this book give an insight, perhaps you’ve never eu.Le Chapter 6 applies as perhaps the best single chapter on data mining and analysis that I have ever read. Chapter six alone is worth the price to manage other livre.Dans to develop and apply SQL Server 2008 BI, we must think differently about the data that we think in OLTP databases. Do you understand the measures, dimensions, attributes, Star Schema and Snowflake Schema instead of tables and three forms of normalization. In addition, ETL and Data Warehousing extremely important for SQL BI.Data mining and analysis is not difficult. It’s just different and requires an understanding of a very different paradigm. This book explains very clearly that Bette paradigm than any other book I know of. I recommend not overlook a statistical analysis tools like SAS to complete BI.Enfin SQL, MDX. This is the default language of the BI industry, and I hesitate to hire, who even rudimentary knowledge of the SQL BI MDX has. This book covers the basics of MDX bien.Ce very first book is the perfect SQL Server 2008 BI and I recommend it. Rating: 5.5

The content is great, well equipped, topics explained in simple language for the problem with examples is plupart.Gros bien.Il a project called “Cube MaxMinSalesDM. A project of VS2010 is created. It is inhabited by another. The problem that the names of the columns in a table are not correct (in the staff analysis project is a table with the name of the seller, but is referred to SSIS projects in the filling of the cube, the table as Sales_Person. When filling in slowly changing dimension causes, this one erreur.Pour a beginner, I need to learn from examples of such projects, and do not have the knowledge to correct these errors. This has caused me hours of need and for that reason, I could just skip this book, if you depend on the projects themselves. Rating: 5.3

well written, to solve a huge topic. Besides the good conceptual syntheses, in fact, a lot of practical details on each of the three main components (SSIS, SSA, SSRS) is. Author uses its own database, rather than the Adventure Works sample used by most other books. It is a big plus, the database is very low and to combat the number of tables or entities is to design easy. Furthermore, it is you involve more exercises – less chances “sleepwalking” through a topic, because sometimes makes things seem Adventure Works can be expected familier.Peut wrong, is the section that the best part of SSAS, the book – especially the MDX and Data Mining chapters. MDX is an incredibly powerful weird # # language and the examples and illustrations in chapters 11 and 12 are very well thought out and presented. You have to go to other sources, is a real control MDX or data mining, but this book contains a basic right. goes by I dove directly into the two above-mentioned topics, with more “advanced” books and regretté.La last section to SSRS, in my opinion, very annoying, vanilla, part of the MS BI stack. Plowing in the plumbing / security / chore is not something I ever find interesting, but SSRS is done by interesting examples here and use OLAP DM Finally, a little hidden bonus expenses in Chapter 18 shows an example of the programming of [. . . ]. I recommend this book – is a comprehensive and practical. Rating: 5.5

I’m halfway done and this book can not often say positive things about them. The author does a remarkable job of walking the reader through the process of ETL, Cubes, and possibly, data mining as well. I’m a newbie to Microsoft BI tools and this book has helped me jump right About the author “with” sections are of inestimable value to. It is incredibly comprehensive and accurate with his teaching. Contrary to a previous reviewer, I have run no trouble finding the database link instance. The only issue I found was a small shop in a sample database is an error, I installed a SqlServer Enterprise 2008 (I have the basic version), but I could with the manual creation of what I do when I not urgently needed.
